Pickens is nearing the final year of his rookie contract. Off-field issues, including hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines and repeatedly showing up late for team activities, have been cited as reasons the organization might consider trading him.
Prior to the NFL Draft, According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Dallas Cowboys were among the teams that explored acquiring Pickens. The Green Bay Packers also reportedly showed interest before drafting a receiver in the first round.
Despite the trade rumors, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that George Pickens wants to stay in the Steel City and values his relationship with coach Mike Tomlin. Pickens has demonstrated production on the field, recording 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns over three seasons.
