Allen Lazard may join the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to recent reports. The New York Jets receiver is considered a trade possibility for the AFC North club.

This information comes from Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, who cited a source familiar with the situation. The potential move follows the Steelers trading wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday.

A key factor in Lazard potentially heading to Pittsburgh is his relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Lazard has a history of performing better with Rodgers throwing him passes than without him. Rodgers and Lazard played together for years with the Green Bay Packers before reuniting in New York.

Rodgers completely trusts Lazard, which could address the adjustment period new receivers often face when playing with the veteran quarterback. During his first year with the Jets without Rodgers for most of the season, Lazard was a healthy scratch at one point.

Adding to Lazard's appeal for a team like the Steelers is his salary situation. He recently agreed to reduce his 2025 salary from $11 million to $2.5 million, with $1.75 million of that amount guaranteed. This makes him a more affordable option.

The possibility of Lazard joining the Steelers hinges significantly on Rodgers himself signing with the team. Persistent reports indicate Rodgers is expected to sign with Pittsburgh, though nothing is official.

Should the trade happen, Lazard would join a Steelers wide receiver group that includes DK Metcalf, Robert Woods, Calvin Austin III, and Scotty Miller after the Pickens departure.

Lazard, 29, played collegiately at Iowa State. He caught on with the Green Bay Packers after going undrafted in 2018. In five seasons there, he recorded 169 catches for 2,236 yards and 20 touchdowns. He signed a contract with the Jets in 2023.

In 2024 with Rodgers back on the field, Lazard caught 37 passes for 530 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games. His best professional season came in 2022 in Green Bay, where he had 60 receptions for 788 yards and six scores.

If the Jets trade Lazard after June 1, they could save $2.43 million in salary cap space in 2025. New York's receiver group currently features Garrett Wilson, Josh Reynolds, Tyler Johnson, Malachi Corley, and Arian Smith.
