Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis is set to announce his college commitment today, choosing between Georgia and Oregon. The announcement is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST at Nashville Christian School in Tennessee.
Curtis ranks as the nation's top quarterback prospect according to multiple recruiting services. He is also ranked among the top overall players nationally for the 2026 recruiting class.
The decision follows a period of reconsidering his options. Jared Curtis previously committed to Georgia on March 23, 2024, before reopening his recruitment in October. He visited multiple programs nationally before narrowing his focus to the two finalists.
Reports indicate Curtis canceled final visits with both Georgia and the Oregon Ducks just days before his decision date.
Curtis has earned recognition for his play, including Gatorade State Player of the Year and Mr. Football honors in Tennessee. As a junior, he completed over 70 percent of his passes for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns against three interceptions. He also showed dual-threat ability with 637 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.
His career totals stand at 7,665 passing yards, 92 touchdown passes, 1,663 rushing yards, and 38 rushing touchdowns. His arm talent has drawn comparisons to Matthew Stafford. If he chooses Georgia, he would be the highest-rated quarterback signee since Justin Fields in 2018.
Relationships with coaches have been cited as a primary factor in Curtis's recruitment. He has spoken positively about his connection with Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.
The financial component, common in the current recruiting landscape, appears less influential in this decision. Peter Webb and Doug Young of QB Reps, the firm representing Curtis, stated that neither finalist was the highest bidder for his services.
His representation indicated they prepared two announcement videos, and the schools may not know his choice until it is publicly revealed.
The commitment of a player like Curtis holds implications for attracting other prospects. Georgia football recruiting efforts for other top players, including 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, are also ongoing this month.
Peter Webb commented on the decision process.
"If Jared was chasing the best compensation package, this may have been over a long time ago," Webb said. "These schools may not have even been in the finals."
