Radek Faksa scored late in the second period Sunday, extending the St. Louis Blues lead in Game 7 against the Winnipeg Jets. The goal put the Blues ahead 3-1.
Faksa received a pass from Nathan Walker and fired the puck past Connor Hellebuyck. The goal occurred with under a minute remaining in the frame.
The tally proved important in the win-or-go-home Game 7 contest.
With the victory, the St. Louis Blues eliminated the Winnipeg Jets from the playoffs.
St. Louis will now face the Dallas Stars in the second round.
Earlier in the game, Jordan Kyrou opened the scoring for the Blues. Mathieu Joseph later doubled the lead. Cole Perfetti scored on the power play for the Jets in the second period.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 13 of 16 shots through two periods for Winnipeg. Jordan Binnington made 13 saves on 14 shots for St. Louis in the same timeframe.
Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey did not return after taking hits from Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist and Joseph in the first period.
