Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone played a pivotal role in the team's recent 4-3 overtime victory against the Minnesota Wild, a win that leveled their first-round playoff series at two games each.

Stone registered an assist in the Game 4 contest on April 27. The veteran forward also demonstrated resilience, returning to the ice after sustaining a cut above his eyebrow during the third period. An assist for Stone ended a six-game stretch without a point.

Since being acquired by the Golden Knights in 2019, Mark Stone has become a cornerstone for the franchise. General Manager Kelly McCrimmon stated the trade helped move the team into contender status. Stone's arrival provided an important leader on the ice and in the locker room.

Stone leads the team in points since joining Vegas, recording 323. His 91 power-play points also top the franchise list. He holds the team record for game-winning goals with 23.

Beyond statistics, Stone's impact is evident in his leadership. Teammates acknowledge his consistent approach and honesty. Despite dealing with injuries, including past back surgeries and a lacerated spleen, Stone remains a high-impact player in the NHL. He was notably instrumental in the Golden Knights' Stanley Cup win in 2023.

Fellow players praise Stone's emotional energy and commitment. Forward Tomas Hertl noted Stone's reactions to wins and losses reflect his dedication. Defenseman Brayden McNabb, an original Knight, called Stone everything to the city and team.

The Golden Knights rank fifth in the NHL in regular-season points since Stone's first game with the team on Feb. 26, 2019, accumulating 605 points over 474 games. While Stone has played in 340 of those contests, his presence as captain is credited with fueling the team's sustained performance.

Stone himself downplays changes in his approach since becoming captain, emphasizing support for teammates. He has observed players elevating their performance and taking on larger roles during the season.

Veteran defenseman Noah Hannifin highlighted Stone's example, stating he comes to the rink, works hard every day, and leads by example.

"I've been around a lot of leaders, and he's obviously the best captain that I've played with," forward Jack Eichel said. "I think he exemplifies what it means to be a leader."
