State playoff pairings for the 2025 NCHSAA Baseball Playoffs were released Monday, setting the matchups for teams across North Carolina. The release of the brackets is the final step before competition begins.
The N.C. High School Athletic Association uses a Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) to help determine playoff seeding and pairings after conference play concludes. Schools had a window to review preliminary brackets and report errors before the final versions were distributed.
First round games for the baseball playoffs are scheduled for Tuesday, with contests hosted by the higher seeds. Winners will advance to the second round of games on Friday.
Subsequent rounds continue the following week, with third round games slated for May 13 and fourth round games on May 16. Like the initial rounds, these will take place at the higher seeds.
The regional championships will be played as a best-of-three series scheduled between May 20-24. The higher seed will host two games if a third game is necessary, with the lower seed hosting one contest.
State championship series for all classifications are scheduled to take place on May 30 and May 31. Baseball state championships will be played at Ting Park in Holly Springs and the Burlington Athletic Complex.
Several teams enter the playoffs with strong finishes to their regular seasons. In the 2A East bracket, West Bladen claimed a conference title and earned the top seed in the region based on RPI rankings. West Bladen victory secured their position heading into postseason play.
Other teams in the 2A East regional playoff picture include Midway, Clinton, South Columbus, and Whiteville, all ranked within the top 10 of the region's RPI standings, according to recent reports.
Teams in the 1A East region also finalized their positions. East Bladen and East Columbus were noted among the top teams in that region's RPI rankings entering the final week of the regular season. RPI rankings were a key factor in determining seeds.
Teams now prepare for the single-elimination format of the early rounds, with the goal of advancing to the best-of-three series in the regional and state championship rounds.
