Mike Weir and Retief Goosen are tied for the lead after the second round of the Insperity Invitational, which saw play schedules adjusted due to weather delays. Both players stand at 9-under-par 135 heading into the final round at The Woodlands, Texas.
Friday's opening round play was suspended because of weather and lightning in the area. Round 1 resumed Saturday morning before the second round began later in the day.
Weir, from Canada, posted a 2-under 67 in the second round following an opening 65. He previously won the Insperity Invitational in 2021 and is seeking his second victory on the PGA TOUR Champions.
Goosen carded a 67 in the second round after starting with a 68. The South African player has three wins on the PGA TOUR Champions, with his latest coming at the 2024 Galleri Classic. Weir and Goosen have been International Team teammates in the Presidents Cup multiple times.
Sharing third place at 8-under are Y.E. Yang and Miguel Angel Jimenez. Yang is looking for his second tour win, while Jimenez seeks his 16th title on the circuit and third of the current season.
Steve Allan and Scott Parel recorded the low rounds of Saturday, each shooting a 7-under. Defending Insperity Invitational champion Scott Dunlap is currently tied for 15th place at 3-under.
Other players in the field include Darren Clarke, who was three shots off the lead early in the suspended first round according to coverage from Irish Golfer. Pádraig Harrington was 1-over par after nine holes of the first round.
The event at The Woodlands has a commitment to continue through 2030, building on its tradition. Further details on the tournament have been released.
