Bryson DeChambeau won the LIV Golf Korea event Sunday at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, finishing two shots ahead of teammate Charles Howell III. The win marked DeChambeau's first title on the LIV circuit this season.
DeChambeau closed with a 66 to reach 19-under par 197 for the tournament. Howell III shot a final-round 63, briefly tying DeChambeau late in the round before a bogey on No. 16 dropped him back.
The final round saw a close contest, with Howell III making a strong push, including a run of five consecutive birdies. DeChambeau secured his lead with a long birdie putt on the 17th hole.
The victory ended a streak for DeChambeau where he had held final round leads in recent tournaments but failed to capture the title. He won $4 million from the $20 million purse for the individual title.
DeChambeau's team, Crushers GC, which includes Howell III, Paul Casey, and Anirban Lahiri, also won the team championship by nine shots over Smash GC.
Other notable players finished further down the leaderboard. Talor Gooch placed third at 14 under, nine shots behind DeChambeau. Patrick Reed and Thomas Pieters tied for fourth at 10 under. Matthew Wolff finished alone in sixth place at 9 under. Jon Rahm tied for seventh at 8 under, and Joaquin Niemann tied for 20th at 4 under.
DeChambeau now looks toward the next major championship. He is expected to join a group of LIV Golf players competing in the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, scheduled for May 15-18.
DeChambeau finished as the runner-up in the PGA Championship last year. He expressed anticipation for competing against top players from various tours at the upcoming major.
"There's a lot of star-studded talent out there right now that's going to be in the PGA Championship," DeChambeau said. "We're going to be battling it out."
