The Board of Control for Cricket in India is scheduled to honor the Indian Armed Forces at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday. The tribute will take place ahead of the Indian Premier League match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
Singer and composer B Praak is set to perform live during the event. The IPL shared news of the planned performance on its social media platform.
Separately, an upcoming IPL match originally scheduled for Dharamshala has been relocated. The game between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians set for Sunday, May 11, will now be played in Ahmedabad.
The decision to move the match was made due to logistical challenges arising from the closure of airports in the region. Airports in Dharamshala, Chandigarh, and Amritsar have ceased commercial flight operations.
Airport closures occurred following India's military actions targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan. The actions were in response to a terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam.
Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed the relocation to Ahmedabad. The match will retain its original start time of 3:30 PM IST.
The BCCI stated that the venue change for Match No. 61 was necessitated by these logistical issues.
Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play their match in Dharamshala as planned on Thursday.
