The Alabama Softball team prepares for its opening game in the Southeastern Conference Tournament Wednesday night. Alabama will face Auburn in a single-elimination matchup.

The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to play South Carolina. That quarterfinal contest is scheduled for Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time and will be broadcast on SEC Network. The ESPN app will stream the game.

Alabama enters the tournament following a weekend series loss to South Carolina. The Gamecocks swept the series, taking games 3-1 and 7-2 on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

The second game of that series began Friday but finished Saturday due to weather. South Carolina secured a 3-1 victory.

The final game saw South Carolina's offense score seven runs. The Gamecocks scored five runs in the second inning, including two-RBI hits from Emily Vinson and Quincee Lilio. Karley Shelton added an RBI single in the inning.

South Carolina extended its lead in the fourth with RBI singles from Lexi Winters and Ella Chancey. A weather delay in the fifth inning ultimately led to the game being called, giving South Carolina the 7-2 win.

Entering that series, Alabama was ranked No. 18 nationally. The series win marked the sixth for South Carolina against a top-20 opponent this season.

Historically, Alabama holds a 49-23 advantage in the series against South Carolina. However, South Carolina won the two most recent meetings.

South Carolina enters the SEC Tournament as the No. 7 seed.

South Carolina coach Ashley Chastain Woodard reflected on the recent series win. "It's been a dream to be here and just to have a successful first season is something I'm really grateful for," Chastain Woodard said.
