NC State adds a forward with shooting ability via the transfer portal. Former Florida State player Jerry Deng joins the Wolfpack program for the upcoming season. He spent one season with the Seminoles after beginning his college career elsewhere.

Deng stands 6-foot-9 and weighs 220 pounds. He projects as a floor-stretching forward for NC State. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Last season at Florida State, Deng played in all 31 games, starting three. He averaged 7.0 points and 1.9 rebounds over 15.4 minutes per contest. He shot 43.4 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range, connecting on 44 of 119 attempts.

Before playing in the ACC, Deng played his freshman year at Hampton University. He started 11 games for the Pirates. There, he averaged 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds. He shot 39.1 percent from beyond the arc at Hampton.

Deng was a highly-regarded transfer prospect last offseason. He drew interest from programs such as Auburn, LSU, Georgetown, Georgia Tech and Florida before choosing Florida State.

He is originally from Norcross, Georgia, where he played high school basketball. Recruiting services ranked Deng as a four-star transfer prospect.

This transfer marks another addition for the NC State program under coach Will Wade. The Wolfpack are building their roster largely through the transfer portal this offseason.

Deng joins a group of incoming transfers. This group includes guards Alyn Breed, Quadir Copeland, and Tre Holloman. Forward Colt Langdon also transferred to the program.

NC State also adds incoming freshmen like Matt Able and Mikey Wilkins. Guard Paul McNeil Jr. is the sole returning scholarship player from last year's roster. More information on NC State's transfer activity is available in articles covering NC State Basketball Recruiting.
