Two separate fires occurred in the Toledo area Sunday, displacing residents and causing extensive damage. No injuries were reported in either incident.
An accidental electrical fire broke out on the second floor of a home on Inverness Avenue in west Toledo Sunday afternoon. Firefighters responded to the address around 4 p.m.
The fire caused significant damage to the home's second story. Toledo Fire and Rescue Department officials said the blaze originated from an electrical issue.
A family of three, including children, and their animals were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family. While the structure is not a complete loss, officials stated the displacement is likely to last for some time.
Later Sunday evening, emergency crews responded to a trailer fire on Moss Creek Street in Washington Township before 5 p.m. Multiple agencies arrived to find the trailer fully involved in flames.
Crews searched the structure and confirmed no one was inside at the time of the fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes of arrival. No injuries were sustained.
The trailer was destroyed in the fire. Agencies responding included Washington Township, Toledo Fire and Rescue, and Morin Point personnel. Published reports state that the Washington Township Fire Chief indicated that renters had recently moved into the trailer.
Fire officials contacted the state fire marshal for assistance as they work to confirm the exact cause of the trailer fire. Another report notes that 13ABC covered both fires that occurred in the area Sunday.
