Increased air traffic and noise are expected over Toledo skies this week as preparations begin for the upcoming Toledo Air Show.
The air show, returning to the area for the first time since 2019, is scheduled to take place this Saturday and Sunday at the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport.
The 180th Fighter Wing has cautioned residents to expect unusual sounds and sights starting on Tuesday as various aircraft conduct flights ahead of the weekend event.
"There will be a lot of increased air traffic and noises," said Senior Master Sgt. Beth Hollicker, the 180th's public affairs officer. "People might hear some older planes that have that World War II-era rumble."
Both military aircraft, such as the F-16s previously seen at the show, and custom-built civilian-piloted aerobatics planes will be flying the Toledo skies during the practice period and the show itself.
Preparations for the air show will involve flights throughout the week.
Gates for the Toledo Air Show will open at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Main performances are scheduled to begin at noon each day and conclude around 4:30 p.m.
