The Weeknd launched his 2025 After Hours Til Dawn Tour Friday night at State Farm Stadium, drawing an estimated 50,000 fans to the venue. The large-scale concert marked the start of the anticipated tour run.
The attendance for The Weeknd concert, while slightly below typical football game crowds, created heavy traffic on freeways and surface streets heading toward State Farm Stadium. The evening timing coincided with Friday rush hour, adding complexity for concertgoers and commuters alike traveling toward the venue.
City officials in Glendale anticipated the traffic challenges. Tony Abbo, a city traffic engineer, recommended fans plan their arrival time accordingly. He stressed the advantage of arriving early to avoid congestion near the stadium.
To manage traffic flow and fan experience, stadium parking lots opened several hours before the concert doors. Attendees arriving early had options for shopping, dining, and entertainment in the nearby Westgate Entertainment District while waiting for the stadium to open. Stadium parking could be purchased in advance, with passes providing directions.
Specific road closures were in effect around State Farm Stadium, including sections of Maryland Avenue and 95th Avenue. Officials directed traffic and pedestrians, advising concertgoers to pay close attention to signage and personnel directing vehicles to designated parking areas. Caution was urged due to increased pedestrian traffic approaching the venue.
Inside State Farm Stadium, The Weeknd launched the tour with a setlist featuring tracks from his recent album trilogy — "After Hours," "Dawn FM," and "Hurry Up Tomorrow" — alongside career hits. The The Weeknd 2025 setlist included popular songs like “Starboy,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “The Hills,” saving “Blinding Lights” for late in the performance.
The performance incorporated songs from the "Hurry Up Tomorrow" album, which recently topped the Billboard album charts, as well as older fan favorites. The setlist balanced material from the new trilogy with established classics from The Weeknd's catalog.
Opening sets were performed by Playboi Carti and Mike Dean before The Weeknd took the stage. The production included elements previously seen, though The Weeknd had indicated new visual aspects for the tour.
Tony Abbo offered guidance for concert attendees navigating the traffic.
“I would say show up as early as possible,” Abbo said. “There’s always things to do in the Westgate area – shopping, dining, entertainment. If they get there a little bit early, they can enjoy what Westgate has to offer and then make their way to the concert.”
