Microsoft announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the 2006 original game. The title is scheduled for release on August 26 and will be available on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation platforms.
The remaster aims to update the game with improved visuals and audio. Players can expect features like 4K resolution, 60 FPS in Campaign mode, and up to 120 FPS for Multiplayer. High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Dolby Vision are supported, alongside 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and 3D Spatial Audio. Visual upgrades include 4K assets, remastered textures, enhanced post-processing, improved shadows and reflections, and super resolution technology with anti-aliasing. The campaign will feature zero loading screens.
Gears of War: Reloaded will support cross-play across all platforms, allowing players on different systems to connect. The game also offers cross-progression, enabling players to carry their progress between devices by signing in with a Microsoft account. Campaign mode supports two-player co-op, while Versus Multiplayer allows up to eight players.
The Coalition is developing the remaster, working with Sumo Digital and Disbelief. Additional details were shared in a new report.
The game will retail for $39.99. However, players who previously purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded. This offer applies to purchases made before today's announcement.
Gears of War: Reloaded will include all downloadable content from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. This includes the bonus campaign act and all multiplayer maps and modes. The game will also be available as part of the Game Pass library at launch. The announcement follows other recent Xbox titles releasing on additional platforms.
"With Gears of War: Reloaded, we’re opening that door to more players than ever," said Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition.
