Actor Pedro Pascal commented on the upcoming Star Wars film The Mandalorian and Grogu, stating the production exceeded expectations. He appeared at Star Wars Celebration Japan recently, discussing the film's scope and narrative approach.
Pascal, who reprises his role as Din Djarin, said sets for the movie surpassed those used in the television series. He described them as among the most incredible he had ever seen in his career.
The film is directed by Jon Favreau, who also co-wrote the script with Dave Filoni. Pascal expressed high praise for Favreau, referring to him as a genius with a strong command of the franchise's world building, characters, and casting.
The movie is set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It follows the continued adventures of the Mandalorian bounty hunter and his young companion, Grogu.
Additional cast members joining the production include Sigourney Weaver, portraying a veteran pilot for the Rebel Alliance. Jeremy Allen White is also part of the cast as Rotta the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt’s son, and Jonny Coyne returns as an Imperial Warlord.
The film is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026. The release window includes competition from other major entertainment releases, such as the video game GTA 6, which is also slated for May 2026, and upcoming Marvel films like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Production on The Mandalorian and Grogu wrapped filming some months ago.
Pascal described the film as a cinematic experience unlike others. According to an interview featured on IMDb, he said, "What this movie will be as a cinema experience will be one of the best adventures ever made."
