Celebrity stylist Law Roach is preparing for a busy night at the 2025 Met Gala, where he is styling seven clients and attending the event. This marks a continued presence in the fashion world for Roach, following a period he described as a break from an intense schedule.
Roach will curate the table for British luxury house Burberry at the gala. He is working with the brand as an official artistic partner and consultant. His role includes advising on the expression of this year's Met Gala theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style."
Collaborating with Burberry Creative Director Daniel Lee, Roach commented that the Met Gala is a stage for creativity and that Lee embodies a vision of English style that resonates with him.
The stylist, known for his work with clients like Zendaya, revealed that six of the seven clients he is styling for the event are new.
Beyond the elaborate custom creations expected on the red carpet, Roach shared a practical beauty hack he uses for himself and clients. He applies a small amount of Vaseline to the soles of feet to help them slide into tight-fitting shoes.
Roach also mentioned using Vaseline as a makeup primer for a glowing look. For the Met Gala, he plans to wear a custom jewelry piece created by Johnny Nelson that contains the petroleum jelly.
His connection to Vaseline dates back to childhood, recalling his mother using the product on his face. He described it as a source of security and pride within the Black community.
This year's Met Gala board of presidents includes an all-male group for the first time since 1995, featuring Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams.
Roach discussed his return to work after announcing retirement in 2023, explaining it was necessary for balance. He continues to work with Zendaya, including styling for her Dune press tour, which featured an archival Mugler look.
