Designer Vera Wang, 75, attended the 2025 Met Gala in New York City on Monday, May 5, presenting a different look from her previous public appearances. Wang walked the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing custom attire she designed, complemented by noticeable changes to her hairstyle and face coverings.

Wang's ensemble featured a light ivory Italian cupro jersey draped gown with a low cowl neckline. The dress incorporated a grey feather appliquéd skirt and black feather lapels. She completed the look with baby bangs and oversized sunglasses.

This appearance followed a similar stylistic choice at the 2025 BAFTA Awards in London in February, where she debuted a shorter hair cut and also wore sunglasses on the red carpet.

During the Met Gala outing, Wang was accompanied by Keke Palmer. Wang also designed Palmer's attire for the event, which was a white tuxedo gown.

Palmer stated her outfit was inspired by Dorothy Dandridge and intended to connect to the night's theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." The theme coincided with the museum's spring exhibition.

Palmer explained her intention was to inhabit the tailoring aspect while referencing the history of Black culture and the use of fashion to access spaces. She cited Dandridge's role in opening doors through fashion and beauty.

Beyond red carpet events, Vera Wang recently expanded her work into bridal jewelry. In March, she discussed her partnership with Jared Jewelers, which includes the Vow collection of engagement and anniversary rings. The collection draws inspiration from ring trends of the 1970s.

Wang has been a presence at the Met Gala in past years, attending alongside individuals such as Janelle Monáe in 2024, Ariana Grande in 2018, and Selena Gomez in 2015.
