K-pop artist Lisa attended the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, wearing a custom Louis Vuitton lace bodysuit that featured a pattern of tiny faces, prompting immediate discussion online about the design. The event celebrated the Metropolitan Museum of Art's spring exhibition, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style."
The intricate detail on Lisa's outfit became a subject of speculation across social media platforms. Some users suggested the portraits embedded in the lace resembled civil rights figure Rosa Parks, though this remained unconfirmed by official sources.
The design was created by artist Henry Taylor, known for his portraiture. Louis Vuitton men’s creative director Pharrell Williams, a co-chair for this year's gala, previously commissioned Taylor to embroider similar portraits for the brand's Men's Spring-Summer 2024 collection, where they appeared on suits and accessories.
A statement from Louis Vuitton indicated that the lace featured "portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life." The brand did not specify if any prominent public figures were included in the artwork.
Lisa's ensemble for her Met Gala debut included a fitted black blazer layered over the sheer bodysuit, paired with black hosiery and pumps. She accessorized with a pearl chain attached to her jacket and a Louis Vuitton purse.
The Met Gala's dress code, "Tailored for You," drew inspiration from the "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" exhibition. The exhibit explores concepts of Black dandyism and tailoring from the 18th century to the present, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book.
Lisa's appearance follows other recent high-profile moments, including a role in the television series "The White Lotus" and a performance at Coachella. She also wore tailored menswear to the 2025 Oscars. Later this summer, she is expected to rejoin her group BLACKPINK for a tour.
"Fashion and I are inseparable," she said in a 2021 interview. "It’s important to me because fashion—along with music—is my way of expressing myself."
