Ciara arrived at the Met Gala red carpet on May 5 wearing a striking black gown by designer LaQuan Smith. The dress featured large cutouts across the bodice and sides, held together by intricate strings of crystals.

The singer walked the blue carpet alongside her husband, NFL star Russell Wilson, who wore a black tuxedo with a coat draped over his shoulders, accessorized with a crystal brooch and dark glasses.

This appearance marked Ciara's eighth time attending the fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.

For the evening, she debuted a short, two-tone pixie haircut, styled sleekly. Her beauty look included a dark smoky eye, a cat eye, and a light-pink lip color.

The event’s theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," complements an exhibition exploring Black style from the 18th century to the present, inspired by scholar Monica Miller's book. The dress code for attendees was "Tailored for You."

Designer LaQuan Smith drew inspiration for Ciara's gown from the Harlem Renaissance and art deco design. He also cited influences from the '80s and Josephine Baker. Smith told People the gown took over 2,000 hours to create.

Ciara has a history of notable Met Gala looks, including a sequined Michael Kors gown in 2022 and a sporty Dundas dress channeling Russell Wilson's Seahawks jersey in 2021.

This year's gala was co-chaired by Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair.
