Former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle recently shared details about his match against Sheamus at WrestleMania 37. Riddle discussed the intense Brogue Kick he received during the bout.

Appearing on the “Rewind Recap Relive” podcast, Riddle disclosed that the concept for the stiff kick originated with him.

Riddle recounted suggesting the spot to Sheamus. Sheamus reportedly questioned the idea, asking Riddle how he would protect himself.

According to Riddle, he responded to Sheamus by saying, "it's WrestleMania, dude. It's like, we're good."

Sheamus reportedly still seemed hesitant, asking, "Are you sure?" Riddle confirmed he was sure.

Riddle explained that Sheamus had to connect solidly with the kick. He stated that if Sheamus had not kicked him with force, he would have landed on his head because he was upside down.

Riddle concluded, "So I needed him to kick me in the face to rotate my body all the way around. So he couldn't not lay it in. He had to."

The match saw Sheamus defeat Matt Riddle to capture the WWE United States Championship.
