The Indiana Fever made initial roster moves Monday, waiving two players as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
Rookie Bree Hall and Jillian Alleyne were released by the club. The moves come as teams trim rosters ahead of the Opening Day deadline.
The Indiana Fever drafted Bree Hall No. 20 overall in the draft last month. Hall played college basketball at South Carolina, where she was teammates with current Fever player Aliyah Boston.
During the Fever's preseason schedule, Hall scored nine points in 16 minutes in a game against Brazil but did not participate in the first preseason contest against Washington.
Jillian Alleyne, a 30-year-old forward, had previously played for other WNBA teams, including Minnesota and Washington. She also has experience playing overseas. In her sole preseason appearance for the Fever, Alleyne recorded seven rebounds and three points in 10 minutes against Brazil.
The team roster currently stands at 13 players. WNBA rules allow for up to 12 players, but many teams, including the Fever, are expected to carry fewer due to salary cap considerations, likely settling on 11 players.
Several players are competing for potentially one or two remaining spots on the roster. These include rookie Makayla Timpson, Jaelyn Brown, and Yvonne Ejim.
The Indiana Fever conclude their preseason schedule with a road game in Atlanta this Saturday. The regular season home opener is scheduled for May 17 against the Chicago Sky.
