Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski has returned to the squad for the Champions League semifinal second leg against Inter Milan. The Polish striker missed recent matches after sustaining a hamstring injury in April.

Lewandowski trained over the weekend and has been cleared to travel with the team to Milan.

The 36-year-old forward has scored 40 goals across all competitions this season. He was sidelined for Barcelona's Copa del Rey final win against Real Madrid and the first leg against Inter.

He is expected to start Tuesday's match at San Siro on the bench.

Left-back Alejandro Balde has not recovered from his own hamstring issue and will miss the match. Defender Jules Koundé is also unavailable.

Barcelona made the decision not to risk Balde with matches remaining in the season, including a La Liga encounter against Real Madrid next weekend.

The Champions League semifinal is level after a 3-3 draw in the first leg. Barcelona faced challenges defending Inter's attack in that match.

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi indicated fitness doubts remain for captain Lautaro Martínez and defender Benjamin Pavard.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick commented on Lewandowski's status Monday.

"Much better than we expected, and he's ready for the bench," Flick said. "So when we need him, maybe he can come in."
