Maryland linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II has drawn interest from multiple National Football League teams as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches. Known for his speed, Hyppolite II completed visits and meetings with clubs across the country during the pre-draft evaluation period.
Hyppolite II showcased his athletic ability at Maryland's Pro Day. He was clocked as fast as 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a time that would have ranked as the fastest among linebackers at the NFL Combine. He also recorded a 6.96-second three-cone drill.
The linebacker completed a total of 10 pre-draft visits with NFL franchises. These included stops on the East Coast, Midwest, and West Coast. He also participated in several virtual meetings.
The New England Patriots added Hyppolite II to their list of 30 visits late in the process. He was one of two off-the-ball linebackers confirmed to visit the team before the draft, according to reports.
He also visited the Kansas City Chiefs. In an interview, Hyppolite II described his experience with the Chiefs organization.
Other teams Hyppolite II visited include the Los Angeles Chargers. He held virtual meetings with the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills.
Hyppolite II played five seasons at Maryland, appearing in 56 games with 47 starts. He finished his college career with 236 combined tackles. He also recorded three interceptions, one sack, one forced fumble, and a career-high 6.5 tackles for loss in his final season. At Maryland, he served as a captain and the defense's primary communicator.
Measuring under 6 feet tall and 236 pounds, his speed and agility are viewed as key traits compensating for his size. He is projected by some analysts as a late-round draft selection or potential rookie free agent. Teams could see him making an early impact on special teams.
In the interview with The Draft Network, Hyppolite II expressed readiness for the next step. āIām looking forward to making an early impact,ā Hyppolite II said. āIām going to come in and attack the process, attack rookie minicamp and OTAs. Iām going to gain the trust of everybody in the building, front office, and coaching staff, veteran players as well. I want to gain the respect of my teammates.ā
