The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Central Michigan cornerback Donte Kent with the 229th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The announcement marked the conclusion of the Steelers' draft class. Kent played five years for Central Michigan.

Donte Kent appeared in 53 college games, starting 48. He finished his career with 234 tackles, 47 passes defensed, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

Beyond defense, Kent also contributed as a punt returner. In 2024, he returned 16 punts for 217 yards, averaging 13.6 yards per return, including a 68-yard touchdown against Central Connecticut.

He earned All-Mid-American Conference honors three times. He was named to the first team in 2022 and the second team in both 2023 and 2024.

Kent played snaps both in the slot and outside during his college career. In 2024, he logged more time in the slot position.

A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Donte Kent weighed 5102 (5 feet, 10 2/8 inches) and 187 pounds at his Pro Day. He recorded a 4.38 40-yard dash time, jumped 38.5 inches in the vertical, and 10'3" in the broad jump. An assistant coach attended his workout.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic rated Kent as the No. 43 cornerback in the draft class. Brugler noted Kent's ability to read routes and his recovery speed, while also mentioning his aggressiveness can cause issues at times. He highlighted Kent's tackling ability and speed.

The selection provides depth to the cornerback position and adds competition for the punt return role.

Donte Kent commented on joining the team. "It's hard to explain. I am just happy. I am a Pa. baby, and I feel like Pa. babies stay in Pa. That's an exciting moment for me, to go play for the Steelers."
