St. Louis took a two-goal lead over Winnipeg after the first period of their Game 7 on Sunday. Goals from Jordan Kyrou and Mathieu Joseph put the Blues ahead early in the deciding game of the first-round series.

Jordan Kyrou opened the scoring just over a minute into the contest. He located a rebound near the net and quickly shot the puck past Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck with one hand. Kyrou strikes first. Colton Parayko and Pavel Buchnevich were credited with assists on the play.

St. Louis doubled its advantage at the 7:16 mark of the first period. Mathieu Joseph scored his first goal of the playoffs. The puck came to Joseph after Winnipeg forward Kyle Connor turned it over.

Joseph skated into the Winnipeg zone, passing multiple defenders before firing a shot over Hellebuyck's short side..Hellebuyck allowed two goals on seven shots in the opening period. St. Louis goalie Jordan Binnington stopped all three shots directed his way.

Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey briefly left the ice after a hit along the boards. He returned for a shift but later went back to the dressing room.

The winner of the game advances to the second round of the playoffs. Their opponent is the Dallas Stars. Dallas Stars won their own Game 7 against the Colorado Avalanche Saturday night.
