Toledo's Tyler Spezia netted the game-winning goal, converting his own rebound. The Walleye initially took a 1-0 lead in the first period with a goal from Colin Swoyer. They extended their advantage to 2-0 in the third period courtesy of Colby Ambrosio.
The Fort Wayne Komets mounted a late comeback in regulation. James Stefan scored a power-play goal with 2:32 remaining to cut the deficit to 2-1. Jack Dugan then converted a penalty shot with 1:05 left to tie the contest and force overtime Toledo tops Komets.
Komets goaltender Brett Brochu stopped 33 of the 36 shots he faced. Toledo's Carter Gylander made 37 saves on 39 shots in the game.
Fort Wayne held an edge in shots 39-36. The Komets converted one of six power-play opportunities, while Toledo was unsuccessful on both of its chances.
In Game 3 of the series, the Komets secured a 2-1 win at the Coliseum, taking a 2-1 series lead. Kyle Mayhew scored the opening goal late in the first period.Toledo's Colby Ambrosio tied Game 3 in the second period, but defenseman Darren Brady responded for the Komets with the go-ahead goal later in the frame, assisted by Alex Swetlikoff and Jack Dugan Game sheet. Brett Brochu stopped 32 shots in the Game 3 victory.
The series continues Thursday with Game 5 at the Coliseum. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
