The Winnipeg Jets defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in double overtime Sunday, eliminating the St. Louis Blues from the Hockey Playoffs in Game 7 of their series.
Adam Lowry scored the winning goal at 16:10 of the second overtime period. Lowry wins it in 2OT gave the Jets the victory after trailing earlier in the game.
Cole Perfetti forced overtime, tying the game with three seconds remaining in regulation. His goal at 59:57 set an NHL record for the latest game-tying goal in a Game 7. Perfetti sends Game 7 to OT marked his second goal of the contest.
The Blues started quickly, taking a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the game on a goal by Jordan Kyrou. Mathieu Joseph extended the lead to 2-0 later in the first period.
Jordan Binnington was the goaltender for the Blues. Connor Hellebuyck was in net for Winnipeg. Hellebuyck finished the series with an .830 save percentage.
Winnipeg faced challenges during the game, playing without defenseman Josh Morrissey for most of the contest after he left in the first period. Center Mark Scheifele also missed the game due to an injury sustained earlier in the series.
Winnipeg was 2-25 in their playoff history when trailing by multiple goals in a game before Sunday's comeback.
The Jets and Blues shake hands concluded the first-round series.
The Winnipeg Jets will now advance to face the Dallas Stars in the next round of the Hockey Playoffs.
St. Louis Blues coach Jim Montgomery commented on the series afterward.
"Sometimes, for whatever reason, if you look at the home teams in this series the puck luck was incredible," Montgomery said.
