The Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Toledo Walleye 2-1 in Game 3 of the ECHL Division Final Monday, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. The Komets secured the win at home at the Memorial Coliseum.

Kyle Mayhew put Fort Wayne on the scoreboard first late in the opening period. His goal gave the Komets a 1-0 advantage entering the first intermission.

The second period remained scoreless, with both teams creating chances but neither finding the back of the net.

Toledo tied the game at 7:46 of the third period when Colby Ambrosio scored. Sam Craggs and Brandon Kruse registered assists on the play.

Fort Wayne responded less than ten minutes later. Defenseman Darren Brady scored the winning goal at 14:58 of the third, assisted by Alex Swetlikoff and Jack Dugan.

Komets goaltender Brett Brochu stopped 32 of 33 shots faced, earning his second win of the series. Toledo netminder Jan Bednar made 25 saves on 27 shots.

The Toledo Walleye registered more shots on goal in the game, finishing with 33 compared to Fort Wayne's 27.

Penalties were called on both teams throughout the contest. Brannon McManus and Brandon Hawkins received minor penalties for Fort Wayne. Toledo's Sam Craggs was assessed a double minor for high-sticking, and Brandon Hawkins later received a minor for slashing. Fort Wayne also received a bench minor penalty.

Game 4 of the series is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7 at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.
