Canelo Álvarez defeated William Scull by unanimous decision Saturday night to become the undisputed super middleweight champion again. The win at ANB Arena secured the FIB belt, which Álvarez had previously lost, adding it to his existing WBC, WBA, and WBO titles at 168 pounds.

Judges scored the bout 115-113, 116-112, and 119-109 for the Mexican fighter. The victory marked Canelo Álvarez's first professional appearance in Saudi Arabia.

Scull, a Cuban contender, suffered the first loss of his career, moving his record to 23-1. Álvarez improved his standing to 63-2-2 with 39 knockouts.

The fight drew criticism for a perceived lack of action. Scull often moved away from Álvarez, resulting in few exchanges. CompuBox data recorded the lowest combined punch total for a 12-round fight in its history.

Following the announcement of Álvarez's win, Turki Alalshikh confirmed that Terence Crawford would be Álvarez's next opponent. Their highly anticipated fight is scheduled for September in Las Vegas.

Álvarez previously held the undisputed super middleweight status from 2021 until 2024. He was stripped of the FIB belt before his victory over Edgar Berlanga in September. Scull had claimed the vacant title by defeating Vladimir Shishkin in October.

Álvarez joins a select group of fighters who have become two-time undisputed champions in the four-belt era and is the first to achieve this in the same weight division. The outcome marked a key event in the Pelea Del Canelo Álvarez 2025 calendar.

Other results on the card included Badou Jack retaining his WBC cruiserweight title and Jaime Munguía winning a decision in a super middleweight contest.

Reflecting on the performance, Álvarez expressed frustration with his opponent's strategy.

"Scull did not come to fight today," Álvarez stated.
