Rookie right-hander Logan Evans earned his first major league win in his debut for the Seattle Mariners. The start came Sunday, April 27 against the Miami Marlins at T-Mobile Park.

Evans pitched five innings, allowing two runs on two hits, including a solo home run. He walked three and struck out three batters. The Mariners won the game 7-6.

Seattle manager Dan Wilson commented on the pitcher's composure. "He was in control of what he was doing the whole game," Wilson said. "For a guy in his debut seemed very calm, very collected."

The 23-year-old Evans, a 12th-round draft pick in 2023, used his full pitch repertoire throughout his outing. He is listed as the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline.

Congrats on your first big-league win, Logan!

Prior to his call-up, Evans was named Seattle's minor league pitcher of the month for his performance at Triple-A Tacoma. In five starts with Tacoma, he held a 1-1 record and a 3.86 ERA, with 23 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings. He completed at least five innings in each of those starts.

Evans is scheduled to make his next start on Sunday, May 4 against the Texas Rangers in Arlington. He will face veteran pitcher Jacob deGrom.

The Seattle Mariners have won six straight series and sit in first place in the American League West standings. They won their sixth straight game on Saturday, clinching their eighth straight series win, including a second against Texas this season.

The Rangers have lost four straight games and their last five series. They had five hits Saturday and have scored three runs in their past four games combined.

Dan Wilson said of Evans' debut, "He mixed all his stuff. That's what he does, and I think that's what makes him successful."
