Trey Sweeney was a primary contributor to the Tigers' offense, recording four hits in the contest. This included a home run to right field and three singles.

Sweeney drove in six runs in the game, establishing a new career high for RBIs in a single outing.

Outfielder Kerry Carpenter also delivered a strong performance, collecting four hits, including a home run and a double, and driving in five runs. Colt Keith added a two-run home run, his third in the last five games.

The win marked the Tigers' 15th victory during the demanding recent schedule and secured their eighth series win in 11 tries this season against the Los Angeles Angels.

Sweeney had also hit a solo home run in Friday's 9-1 win over the Angels, his second homer of the season.

The Detroit Tigers have recorded 20 home runs over their last seven games.

Starting pitcher Reese Olson pitched 5 â…” shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight batters.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch commented on the team's current state after the game.

"We're in a good place," Hinch said.
