The Seattle Mariners announced multiple roster transactions Tuesday, including placing infielder/outfielder Dylan Moore on the 10-day injured list. The move was made retroactive to April 26 due to right hip inflammation.
To fill a roster spot, the Mariners selected infielder/outfielder Samad Taylor from Triple-A Tacoma.
Additionally, right-handed pitcher Gregory Santos was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. This transfer cleared a spot on the 40-man roster for Taylor.
Moore had been off to a productive start for Seattle this season, posting a .286 batting average with six home runs and nine runs batted in across 23 games. He earned American League Player of the Week honors for the week concluding April 20.
The injury occurred during a game last week at Fenway Park while Moore was rounding first base. He remained in that game but did not play in contests on Saturday or Sunday after playing Friday.
Moore indicated the issue involves his adductor area. After undergoing an MRI on Saturday, he opted for a cortisone shot to aid recovery and was placed on the injured list as a precaution.
Moore stated the decision to go on the injured list was influenced by a desire to avoid further complications, especially given his experience with past injuries. He highlighted the physical demands of playing multiple positions.
With the move retroactive to April 26, Moore could potentially return as early as Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics.
Samad Taylor joins the major league roster after batting .321 with five home runs and 14 runs batted in through 24 games for Triple-A Tacoma this season. He is expected to provide depth and flexibility across the infield and outfield while Moore is sidelined.
Gregory Santos was transferred to the 60-day injured list in correlation with his scheduled knee surgery. The club anticipates a lengthy absence, extending beyond the middle of June.
