The Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins meet Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park in the rubber game of their three-game series. The Twins secured a 4-3 victory Saturday, setting up the decisive matchup.
Boston sends left-hander Garrett Crochet to the mound for his eighth start. Crochet holds a 3-2 record with a 2.05 ERA. In his most recent outing, he allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings in a win.
The Twins counter with right-hander Chris Paddack. Paddack is still seeking his first win of the 2025 season, entering with an 0-3 record and a 5.60 ERA.
The game is scheduled for a 1:35 p.m. ET first pitch. The contest is available on NESN and WEEI-FM 93.7.
Notable in the Red Sox starting lineups are Trevor Story and Connor Wong getting the day off. David Hamilton is at shortstop, and Carlos NarvĂĄez is behind the plate. Kristian Campbell bats cleanup.
The Red Sox faced news Saturday that first baseman Triston Casas ruptured his patellar tendon, requiring season-ending surgery. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow addressed the situation.
âI think we need to put all options on the table,â Breslow said Saturday regarding filling the position. âAsking some guys who havenât played in the big leagues yet to assume new positions at the same time theyâre trying to make that transition is a difficult task. But we need to be open-minded about solutions here.â
Chris Paddack holds a 1-1 record with a 6.48 ERA in two career starts against Boston. Garrett Crochet is coming off a strong start after a previous rocky outing.
Twins manager Alex Cora commented on Crochetâs previous start. âHe had two bad innings \against Seattle, man. He struck out nine in five \innings,â Cora said. âSometimes we make a big deal out of an outing that was OK for the rest of them. It wasnât acceptable for him, but like I told him, âIf thatâs a bad one, Iâll take it.â He gave us a chance to win.â
