Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has been placed on the injured list after sustaining a bone bruise in his left knee.

The team confirmed that imaging revealed no structural damage following the injury.

Trout exited Wednesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. He appeared to tweak his knee while running toward first base on an infield single attempt. He played defense the following half-inning before being replaced as a precaution.

This is the first time Trout has been on the injured list this season. He dealt with a bone bruise in his surgically repaired left knee, the same knee that had two surgeries for meniscus tears last year.

Trout's recent seasons have been marked by injuries. Since 2019, he has played more than 82 games just once. Previous ailments include a broken hamate bone in 2023, a back injury in 2022, and a calf sprain in 2021.

Before the injury, Trout was batting .179 with nine home runs and a 29.8% strikeout rate this season.

The Los Angeles Angels offense has struggled collectively, ranking low in batting average, on-base percentage, and walks.

Manager Ron Washington indicated the bone bruise was not considered severe. However, Trout has a history of recovery times extending beyond initial projections. He is eligible to return May 10 if his recovery progresses without setbacks.

According to The Athletic's Sam Blum, Trout addressed the injury Friday.

Mike Trout commented on his current condition.

"Feeling a lot better," Trout said.
