The Seattle Mariners announced a series of roster transactions Wednesday, including the selection of outfielder Rhylan Thomas from Triple-A Tacoma. Thomas is expected to make his Major League debut with the club.
Seattle also placed outfielder Luke Raley on the 10-day Injured List, retroactive to April 28, due to a right oblique strain. Right-handed pitcher Sauryn Lao was designated for assignment as part of the moves.
Thomas, 25, was batting .319 with 15 runs scored and six RBI in 26 games for Tacoma this season. He posted a .363 on-base percentage and a .362 slugging percentage.
The outfielder holds a .300 career average across parts of four minor league seasons with the New York Mets and Seattle organizations. He has walked 88 times and struck out 86 times in his minor league career.
Roster moves announced today were made official by the team. Thomas was originally drafted by the Mets in 2022 out of the University of Southern California and acquired by the Mariners in a trade in July 2024 for Ryne Stanek.
Raley, 30, was batting .206 for Seattle this season with two home runs and eight RBI in 68 at-bats.
Lao, 25, made his major league debut for the Mariners on April 22 against Boston, pitching 1.2 innings. The pitcher was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on April 23 before being designated for assignment on Wednesday.
The Mariners 40-man roster remains at 40 players following the transactions.
