Gabriel Arias helped drive in runs during a key inning as the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 on Sunday to win the three-game series.
Arias hit a two-run single in the fourth inning. That hit was part of a three-run rally for the Guardians.
The Guardians took the lead when Daniel Schneemann doubled in a run, and Arias followed with his single to right field, scoring Carlos Santana and Schneemann.
Gabriel Arias also scored the first run of the game in the third inning. He came home on a base hit by Angel Martinez.
Toronto responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game. An error by Guardians third baseman José RamÃrez started the inning, and Andres Gimenez drove in two runs with a single.
However, the Blue Jays offense stalled after the fourth inning. They managed only two hits over the final five innings.
Guardians starter Tanner Bibee left the game before the sixth inning due to leg cramps. Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis allowed four runs over 4 â…“ innings.
Cleveland secured the winning run in the ninth inning after reliever Brendon Little walked three Guardians batters. Emmanuel Clase earned the save despite a throwing error.
