Boston Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet was struck by a line drive off his glove and nose during a game against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, but remained in the game initially.

The play occurred in the top of the fourth inning when Twins shortstop Carlos Correa hit a ball back toward the mound. The ball deflected off Crochet's glove as he turned his head before hitting his nose.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora and a trainer came to the mound to check on the left-hander. Crochet appeared to have a small trickle of blood after blowing his nose.

Despite the impact, Crochet stayed in the game and struck out the next batter, Jonah Bride, with a sweeper. He then allowed a single to Brooks Lee before Harrison Bader grounded out to end the inning.

The unusual play was scored as an assist for Crochet as second baseman Kristian Campbell fielded the ball and threw to first for the out. The assist was scored as 1-4-3.

Crochet was pulled from the game after completing five innings. He threw 89 pitches, allowing one run on four hits and recording six strikeouts.
