Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee exited his start Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays after five innings because of leg cramps, the team announced.
Bibee took the mound to warm up for the bottom of the sixth inning but appeared in discomfort. He lifted his legs multiple times and called for the training staff from the dugout.
Trainers attended to Bibee before he walked gingerly off the field. An athletic trainer massaged his right hamstring area while Bibee attempted to hydrate.
Lefty reliever Tim Herrin replaced Bibee on the mound.
Before leaving, Bibee had pitched five innings, allowing three runs, two of which were earned. He gave up five hits and two walks while striking out three batters.
Bibee has battled cramping issues in the past, including during his college career and in a game last July.
The injury adds to the Guardians' pitching staff concerns. Starting pitchers Shane Bieber, John Means, and Slade Cecconi are already on the injured list.
The Cleveland Guardians at Toronto Blue Jays contest continued following Bibee's departure.
