Firefighters responded to a large brush fire reported Sunday afternoon in Island Lake, Illinois. The Brush Fire prompted a significant response from area crews.

The Wauconda Fire District confirmed they received multiple 911 calls regarding the fire near Route 176 and Bassler Drive.

Due to the size and scope of the Island Lake Fire, the response was quickly escalated.

Fire command officials issued a Box Alarm requesting mutual aid from neighboring departments.

This elevated the response level through MABAS, bringing in additional resources and personnel to the scene.

Videos shared from the area show large plumes of smoke and heavy flames. Video shows the fire from above.

No evacuations have been ordered for the area at this time.

It remains unclear how the fire started or if there have been any injuries reported.

The fire is located within McHenry County.

Authorities advised residents to avoid the immediate area while crews worked to contain the blaze. The Brush Fire required extensive effort from responding firefighters.
