The 9-1-1 Bobby Funeral Episode aired Thursday, depicting the characters grappling with the death of Captain Bobby Nash, portrayed by Peter Krause. The episode detailed the responses of the 118 firehouse team and Nash's wife, LAPD Sergeant Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), weeks after his passing.

Nash had died in a previous episode after contracting a virus and sacrificing the only available antidote to save team member Chimney (Kenneth Choi). His death followed a final goodbye through protective glass to Athena and Buck (Oliver Stark).

Athena delayed making final arrangements for Nash, focusing instead on a cold case brought to her by the brother of a woman Bobby had rescued years prior. The woman, Leah, believed her son, thought to have died in a fire, was still alive.

Athena's investigation into Leah's claims led her to pursue the possibility that the child had survived and been taken. She established a base at the partially reconstructed home she shared with Bobby, creating a theory board.

During this time, Nash appeared to Athena in a scene where he encouraged her to accept his death. Athena was not ready to do so, and the vision of Nash disappeared.

Chimney openly struggled with guilt and anger over Bobby's sacrifice. He confessed to Buck that he did not know how to cope with Bobby having given his life for him.

The episode showed Athena taking steps to confirm the identity of the remains buried as Leah's son. When no remains were found in the casket, it fueled her suspicions, but teammate Hen (Aisha Hinds) helped her confront her grief and reassess the evidence.

Ultimately, Athena obtained a DNA sample from the boy Leah attempted to kidnap, which proved he was not Leah's son. This allowed Athena to confront her grief directly.

The 118 team, including Eddie (Ryan Guzman), who returned from Texas for the event, prepared for the funeral. Athena decided Bobby would be laid to rest next to his first wife, Marcy, and their children, Robert Jr. and Brooke, who perished in a fire years earlier.

The episode concluded with Bobby Nash's casket being placed aboard a plane, and Athena, along with her children May (Corinne Massiah) and Harry (Elijah M. Cooper), laying him to rest in the burial site beside his first family.

As the casket was lowered, Athena said, "Rest easy. You're home now, baby. You're home."
