Comedian Tom Segura features a character resembling country music artist Garth Brooks in his new Netflix sketch comedy series. The show, titled Bad Thoughts, incorporates a segment based on Segura's long-running comedic bit about the artist.

The character, described as a "global country music superstar," appears in one of the six episodes of the series set to debut May 13. The portrayal draws from Segura's public commentary regarding Brooks over several years.

Segura and fellow comedian Christina P originated a popular internet joke questioning the whereabouts of bodies in relation to Garth Brooks. The bit gained traction on their podcast Your Mom's House.

The joke dates back at least to 2018. Segura first alluded to the idea he jokingly believed Brooks might be a serial killer during an appearance with Fahim Anwar.

The character in Bad Thoughts reportedly depicts a musician who engages in unusual interactions with fans to find inspiration for songs. Details within the episode segment reference specific mannerisms Segura has often highlighted when discussing Brooks.

The series explores various dark scenarios through a collection of vignettes according to details released about the production. Segura created, directed, and produced the show, also contributing to the screenplay with Conor Galvin, Craig Gerard, Rami Hachache, Jeremy Konner, Greg Tuculescu, and Matthew Zinman.

While Segura has referenced Brooks frequently in his stand-up and podcast, the Netflix series marks the first time the comedic portrayal appears in a scripted television format. Brooks has generally not responded publicly to Segura's jokes.
