Recording artist Maren Morris recently spoke about her appreciation for fellow musician and neighbor Sheryl Crow. Morris described Crow as a hero during an event Thursday in Nashville.
Morris, 35, attended the Variety Power of Women event hosted by LifeTime, where she praised Crow, 63. She noted Crow's philanthropic work and history of supporting other women and new artists.
"She’s always been a supporter of women and new artists like myself," Morris stated. She added that Crow stands by her word and does not avoid speaking on social issues.
Morris said Crow stands up for the marginalized throughout her career. The event honored several women, including Morris, Crow, Reba McEntire, Kelsea Ballerini, and Mickey Guyton, for their contributions to country music.
Following the event, Crow posted about feeling humbled by the honor and thanked the other women involved. She specifically mentioned Maren Morris, stating Morris never ceases to inspire her and is a gift.
While Crow is a hero to Morris and other musicians, Crow shared that her own hero is Stevie Nicks. Crow told Us Weekly that she would not be doing what she does if not for Nicks.
Crow described poring over magazines, listening to Nicks' music, and seeing pictures of her as a ticket out of her hometown. She said she wanted to grow up to be like Nicks.
Crow noted that she has told Nicks, who she considers a dear friend, about her influence many times.
