Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman will return for a sequel to their 1998 fantasy comedy "Practical Magic," Warner Bros. announced. The film, titled "Practical Magic 2," is scheduled for release on Sept. 18, 2026.

The actresses are set to reprise their roles as sisters Sally Owens and Gillian Owens, who come from a family of witches facing a curse that impacts the men they love. The original movie was based on the novel by Alice Hoffman.

While details on the sequel's plot are not fully known, reports indicate the story will draw from a later installment in Hoffman's book series.

Nicole Kidman previously confirmed plans for the sequel last year during an interview. Sandra Bullock also confirmed her involvement.

Warner Bros. marked the release date announcement with a short video clip featuring voiceovers from the stars.

Producer Denise Di Novi, who worked on the first film, has stated the team understands the meaning the original movie holds for many viewers and aims to honor its themes of sisterhood, family, and love in the new project.

The original "Practical Magic" cast included Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Goran Visnjic, Aidan Quinn, Evan Rachel Wood, and Peter Shaw.

For Sandra Bullock, "Practical Magic 2" marks a return to the big screen following her last film role in 2022. She is also reportedly reuniting with her "Speed" co-star Keanu Reeves for an upcoming romantic thriller.

Di Novi described the core idea that "there's magic in daily life, in love, in family, in sisterhood. It's magical, and we all have our gifts, and women have very particular and specific gifts. We really want to honor all of that."
