The city of Cannes will host an outdoor photography exhibition celebrating the career of Alain Delon and the women who influenced him. The event, titled «Delon & Elles», is part of the city’s Cannes fait le mur initiative.
The exhibition features a selection of iconic and previously unreleased photographs honoring the actor. It also highlights actresses who played significant roles in his public image and on-screen presence, including Brigitte Bardot, Romy Schneider, Catherine Deneuve, Mireille Darc, and Ursula Andress.
The display is scheduled to open on May 13, coinciding with the start of the 78e édition du Festival de Cannes. Photographs will be displayed on aerial banners throughout the streets of Cannes, notably along the rue d’Antibes.
Organizers state the exhibition underscores Delon's timeless presence in global cinema. Partners for Cannes fait le mur include Humann Prize, Alain Delon International Distribution, and support from Christian Dior Parfums.
David Lisnard, the mayor of Cannes, noted that the exhibition invites visitors to explore anecdotes and perspectives on the actor while celebrating the city's heritage. He cited Alain Delon as stating women were instrumental in his career success.
Anouchka Delon, the actor's daughter, shared her support for the event on social media as the exhibition was being prepared. She expressed pride in seeing her father honored in this way.
The tribute comes after the SamouraĂŻ star's last appearance at the Festival de Cannes in 2019. During that festival, Alain Delon received a Palme d'Or d'honneur recognizing his overall career contributions.
Anouchka Delon presented her father with the award in 2019. The actor showed emotion upon receiving the honor during the ceremony.
As quoted by Cannes Mayor David Lisnard, Alain Delon said: "It is women who loved me, who made me do this job, who allowed me to succeed."
