Tina Knowles joined her daughter Beyoncé and granddaughters Blue Ivy Carter and Rumi Carter onstage during a performance in Los Angeles on May 1, 2025. Knowles appeared during the song "Protector" at SoFi Stadium, where Beyoncé is currently performing as part of her "Cowboy Carter" tour.
The onstage appearance celebrated Knowles' memoir, "Matriarch," which recently became a New York Times bestseller. Beyoncé paused the concert to announce the accomplishment to the audience, prompting thousands of fans to congratulate "Mama T" in unison.
Knowles' book was released on April 22 and shares intimate details from her life, covering personal and public challenges. The memoir was recently selected for Oprah's Book Club.
Knowles is also on a nine-city tour to promote the book. She began her tour in Washington, D.C., on May 1, the same day she appeared on stage with her family. Her next stop for the tour is also in Los Angeles.
Mathew Knowles, Tina Knowles' ex-husband and the father of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, also publicly acknowledged her book's success. In a May 1 post on X, he offered congratulations on the bestseller status.
Despite their divorce in 2011 after 33 years of marriage, Tina Knowles has stated that they remain on good terms. She discussed their past and present relationship in interviews promoting the book.
Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour" began on April 28 in Los Angeles. The tour includes 32 stadium shows across the United States and Europe.
The singer is scheduled to play multiple dates at SoFi Stadium, setting a record for performances by any artist at the venue.
Knowles previously told people that she almost did not write the book, believing people would only be interested in her children's lives. However, she ultimately decided it was time to share her story.
"I've lived this incredible life, and you really don’t realize it until you start writing everything down," she said.
