Jeep has revealed the next-generation Jeep Compass sport utility vehicle, but plans to introduce the model in North America have been paused. Stellantis, Jeep's parent company, confirmed that work on the North American version has temporarily stopped, including activities at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada.

The automaker stated it is reassessing its product strategy in North America to provide customers a range of vehicles with flexible powertrain options that best meet their needs today. The decision comes as the company navigates a dynamic market environment.

For Europe, plans remain on track for production to begin next year, with deliveries expected to start by the end of 2025. European customers can already place orders for the new model.

The new Jeep Compass represents a departure from the current version sold in the United States. It is based on the newer STLA Medium platform and features all-new bodywork, measuring 6.1 inches longer than the outgoing model.

Powertrain options for the revealed model include standard hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric versions. The hybrid produces 145 horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid offers 195 horsepower. The three electric vehicle variants range from 213 horsepower for the front-wheel-drive model up to 375 horsepower for the all-wheel-drive version. Jeep claims a maximum range of just over 400 miles on the European WLTP cycle, with charging speeds up to 160 kW DC allowing a 20 to 80 percent charge in 30 minutes.

The design includes aerodynamic enhancements like an Active Grille Shutter integrated into the front bumper, air ducts, and a flat underbody. Inside, the vehicle features a new infotainment system with a 10-inch cluster and a 16-inch radio. Level 2 autonomous driving is standard, with features like a head-up display and semi-automatic lane change available on higher trims.

Previous plans had North American production scheduled to begin in 2026. The current 2025 Jeep Compass starts under $27,000 in the United States. The plug-in hybrid version revealed in Europe starts around €42,995 ($48,500).

The timing of the new Compass's potential arrival in North America remains uncertain. This includes considering factors such as the potential continuation of the Trump administration's tariff policy, which has created uncertainty for automakers regarding import costs.

Regarding the pause, a Stellantis spokesperson stated: "As we navigate today’s dynamic environment, Stellantis continues to reassess its product strategy in North America to ensure it is offering customers a range of vehicles with flexible powertrain options to best meet their needs. As a result, the Company has temporarily paused work on the next-generation Jeep Compass, including activities at the Brampton Assembly Plant."
