Rockstar Games dropped a surprise second Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer Tuesday, providing players a new look at the highly anticipated title. The release coincided with the publisher's announcement that the game's launch is now set for May 26, 2026, a pushback from the previously expected 2025 window.

The new Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer offers a deeper dive into the game's narrative and features its first female protagonist, Lucia. The clip shows Lucia and her partner, Jason, engaged in criminal activities after Lucia's release from prison.

Rockstar's description for the latest Trailer indicates Lucia and Jason face a stacked deck but must rely on each other when an easy score goes wrong. They find themselves caught in a criminal conspiracy within the state of Leonida.

The game, known to fans as GTA, was initially anticipated for 2025. The delay to May 2026 was disclosed by publisher Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., the parent company of Rockstar Games. Take-Two reiterated expectations for record Net Bookings in fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

The second trailer arrives approximately 17 months following the game's first trailer, introducing more backstory for main characters Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

According to the developer's website, Jason grew up around criminals but later worked for drug runners in the Keys after time in the Army. Lucia landed in the Leonida Penitentiary while fighting for her family.

Other characters mentioned include Cal Hampton, described as a friend of Jason's, and Boobie Ike, who built a business empire encompassing real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio through street smarts.

Alongside the Trailer, Rockstar Games released new screenshots on its website, showcasing characters and locations. These included Vice City, the fictional area inspired by Miami, and Leonida Keys, resembling the Florida Keys.

Reaction to the visuals was strong, with some users on social media platforms describing the graphics as among the best seen.

Fans have awaited a new entry in the series for over a decade, with Grand Theft Auto V having launched in 2013. That title sold over 200 million copies, setting high expectations for GTA 6. Wedbush Securities has projected $6.35 billion in sales for the game in fiscal year 2026. A video package discussed the Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed for another year, developers say. The company previously indicated they were pushing back the timeline.
