Melissa Jefferson-Wooden claimed her second Grand Slam Track title Saturday, winning the women's short sprints group at the circuit's second meet of the season.

Jefferson-Wooden secured the title at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miami by accumulating 18 points from two races. She won Friday's 100 meters and finished third in the 200m on Saturday with a personal best time of 22.15 seconds.

Gabby Thomas won the 200m race in 21.95 seconds but finished second overall in the group standings with 17 points. Tamari Davis placed third overall with second-place finishes in both events.

Winners in each group received $100,000. Jefferson-Wooden edged Thomas by one point for the top prize in the short sprints.

In the men's short distance group, Briton Josh Kerr won the title. He secured the win with 16 points after winning the 1,500m on Friday and placing fifth in the 800m Saturday. Canadian Marco Arop finished two points behind Kerr in the standings.

The novel circuit features athletes competing in 12 groups over two races per meet, with points determining the champion of each group. Other winners in Miami included Ackera Nugent in the women's short hurdles and Jereem Richards in the men's long sprints.

Following her win, Jefferson-Wooden was surprised by her cousin who is serving in the US Army and traveled from Korea.

Josh Kerr expressed satisfaction with his performance in Miami.

"These are going to be awesome shows that we're doing," Kerr said. "If I keep progressing the way I am, then I can come away with two more slams this year and be really proud."
