Manchester City defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 Sunday to advance to the FA Cup final. The victory sets up a championship match against Crystal Palace next month.

Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol scored the goals for Pep Guardiola's side in the semi-final contest at Wembley.

Lewis opened the scoring just two minutes into the match, converting an early chance to give Manchester City the lead.

Gvardiol doubled City's advantage with a header shortly after halftime, providing a cushion for the reigning FA Cup champions.

Nottingham Forest pushed for a way back into the game, hitting the woodwork three times during the match but were unable to find a goal against City's defense.

Crystal Palace secured their place in the final Saturday, beating Aston Villa 3-0 in their semi-final. Eberechi Eze and Ismaïla Sarr scored for Palace in that match.

The FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester City is scheduled for May 17 at Wembley. This will be City's third consecutive appearance in the final.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged the difficulty some fans face attending matches at Wembley, which is located in London. City was playing its seventh consecutive FA Cup semi-final at the venue. Guardiola stated he understood the situation for supporters traveling from the north.

Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo expressed disappointment after the defeat, noting his team gave their effort.

"Three FA Cup finals in a row, it's amazing," Guardiola told ITV after the match.
